About Maria
My early years as a handler started more than 15 years ago at age 11 when I went to my first dog show. I was hooked when my mentor gave me a dog to run around with. After that, I started competing in Junior Showmanship until I aged out. During that time I also worked for various groomers who taught me how to groom and care for the coat of various breeds of show dogs. My knowledge came from watching and shadowing other handlers, reading magazines such as the Canine Chronicle and Dog News and from my mentors who always remind me how important it is to instill confidence in the dog and yourself while you're in the ring. Throughout the years, I've shown many breeds throughout the country. My breed is Rhodesian Ridgebacks and I've shown everything from Ridgebacks to Basenjis, Borzois, Salukis, Flat-Coated Retrievers, Bulldogs and everything in between. I am currently specializing in Hounds and Non-Sporting breeds. I have bred, owned, handled numerous dogs to their conformation Championship. Additionally I enjoy competing in obedience, lure-coursing, agility and just spending time with dogs in general. I have put many titles on different breeds and in a variety of venues. Every dog that is in my care gets the same treatment, training and dedication my own dogs recieve. Please contact me if you have any questions or are interested in handling services. Currently I am accepting New Clients for 2009.
